Full audit

This is one part of the full report

Speed, Core Web Vitals, UX, SEO and security in one free report, graded A+ to F, with AI fixes for your platform.

What it checks

  • Invisible text

Flags @font-face rules without font-display: swap, which hide text for up to 3 seconds.

  • WOFF2 format

Finds fonts still served as WOFF, TTF or OTF instead of the smaller WOFF2.

  • Files and size

Counts the font files your CSS really uses and measures them, flagging more than 300 KB.

  • Google Fonts setup

Checks for display=swap and a preconnect to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com.

  • Preloads

Spots preloaded fonts the CSS never uses, a missing crossorigin and a main font that isn’t preloaded.

  • Icon fonts and @import

Notes icon fonts, font CSS hidden behind @import and fonts added by a script.

Questions

What does font-display: swap do?

It tells the browser to show text in a fallback font straight away, then swap in your font when it arrives. Without it, most browsers hide text for up to 3 seconds.

Why do you count fewer files than my CSS declares?

Browsers download a font file only when text on the page uses that weight and style. We match the weights and italics in your CSS to the declared files and count those.

Should I self-host Google Fonts?

Usually, yes. Serving the files from your own domain skips a connection to Google’s servers and lets you preload the main file. If you keep Google Fonts, add display=swap and preconnect to both of its domains.

Which stylesheets do you read?

Inline styles, font CSS from Google, Adobe and Bunny Fonts, and up to six of the page’s own stylesheets, plus one level of @import. Fonts added by a JavaScript kit aren’t visible to us.
