Mixed content
Files loaded over plain http:// on a secure page, which browsers block or upgrade.
Wrong file type
An image or script that answers with a web page, usually a missing file behind a 200.
Redirecting files
Files that take an extra round trip before they load.
Heavy images
Images over 500 KB, with their sizes.
Layout shift and alt text
Images without width and height, or without alt text.
Questions
What counts as an asset?
Everything the page asks the browser to load: images and srcset candidates, stylesheets, scripts, preloads, icons, the web manifest, video, audio, CSS background images and your og:image.
Does it check every file?
It checks about 15 to 35 files per run: stylesheets, scripts and images on your own site first, then files on the CDNs you use most. The result says exactly how many were checked out of how many found.
Why is an image marked “wrong type” when it loads?
The server answered with a web page instead of an image. That’s almost always an error or login page sent with a 200 status, so visitors see a broken image.
Why does a missing width and height matter?
Without them the browser can’t save space for the image, so the page jumps when it loads. That hurts Cumulative Layout Shift. If your CSS already sets the size, you can ignore it.
