Questions

How long should a title tag be?

About 50 to 60 characters. Google cuts titles at roughly 600 pixels wide, so wide letters like W and M use up the space faster. Put the words that matter first.

How long should a meta description be?

About 120 to 160 characters. Google often rewrites descriptions, but a clear, specific one gets used more often and earns more clicks.

What does a canonical tag do?

It tells search engines which URL is the main one when the same content lives at several addresses, for example with tracking parameters. Most pages should point to themselves.

Do meta keywords still matter?

No. Google and Bing have ignored the keywords tag for years. It’s safe to remove.
