Questions
What’s the difference between a product snippet and a merchant listing?
A product snippet adds price, stock and review stars under a normal search result. A merchant listing can also show your product in the Shopping tab and product panels, and needs a name, image, price and currency.
Do I need a GTIN?
It’s recommended, not required. If your product has a barcode (UPC, EAN or ISBN), add it: Google uses it to match your listing to the exact product. Handmade or custom items can skip it.
Why does my price have to match the markup?
Google checks that the price in your structured data matches the one shoppers see. When they disagree, for example after a sale ends, Google can drop the listing or show a warning in Merchant Center.
Does it work with Shopify, WooCommerce and other platforms?
Yes. It reads the page’s HTML and structured data, so it works on Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento and custom shops. Prices or buttons added later by JavaScript may not be seen.
