What it checks
Mobile speed
A Lighthouse run on a mid-range phone over a slow 4G connection.
Viewport
Whether the page fits the screen instead of showing a shrunk desktop page.
Tap targets
Buttons and links big enough, and far enough apart, to hit with a thumb.
Zoom
Pages that block pinch-to-zoom stop people reading small text.
Layout shifts
Content that jumps under the finger while the page loads.
Screenshots

Questions
Google retired its Mobile-Friendly Test. What now?
Google shut it down in December 2023 and points to Lighthouse instead. This test runs Lighthouse on a phone profile and adds our own checks for zoom, forms and tap targets.
Why is my mobile score lower than desktop?
Lighthouse simulates a mid-range phone on slow 4G, so heavy JavaScript and big images hurt much more. That’s close to what many real visitors get.
What makes a page mobile-friendly?
A viewport tag, text that’s readable without zooming, tap targets of at least 24 px, no horizontal scrolling, and a fast first load.
